Warning Colorado citizens that are traveling by car to neighboring states:

Ever since Colorado passed its medical marijuana laws and now with the legalization of marijuana, law enforcement in Wyoming, Kansas and, from our experience, in particular, Utah, are checking cars with Colorado plates for the possession of the drug. When found with marijuana on your possession, you are facing misdemeanor or felony changes, and certainly facing heavy fines. We have been doing many of the required assessments that are always required by these types of arrest. We did the defense of a graduating seniors from Univ. of Colorado that had hashish in their possession when they entered Iowa. This is a felony in Iowa, so if you are reading this before you travel... don't take any Colorado legal drugs to any other state, except, maybe, Washington and then on by plane and that might be against Federal Law.

Most people that we have assessed are not having addiction problems, but if you are part of this growing number of people that might use marijuana and could be arrested for having it in your possession, call us because we can help you navigate through the process.

We will taylor make our Evaluations and Assessments to fit what you need, not the other way around. If you have a DUI or DWI, this is the site to help you.Click Here

Licensed Evaluator

Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Specialist

Colorado Drug Rehab has been asked to provide alcohol and drug assessments and evaluation for HR Departments, Lawyers and Courts, but most of our 600+ alcohol and drug assessments and evaluations have been for individuals that have DUI and DWI convictions. The second leading requests are for people who are arrested for the possession of marijuana. We have had a few evaluations for people that have a history of addiction, but are now in recovery and they need to have an outside professional alcohol or drug evaluation or assessment that will document that they no longer have any addiction issues.

Our professional evaluation system has the highest professional resumes and evaluators possible. Our Licensed Evaluator has over 35 years experience and he has had two of his evaluations questioned out of over six hundred. (These were from an agressive DA in Utah that wanted to have a report that made the defendents guilty of addiction and not what was the truth.)

Call us and we will explain how you can do a face-to-face electronic evaluation without you having to leave your home.

Our prices are lower and our credentials and successes are higher than most others providing similar services.

If you or a loved one has been arrested or cited for recless driving, open alcohol container, DUI, DWI or any other charges that need a professional's written evaluation or assessment, then call us and we will discuss this further.

We live in Interesting Times. As an Evaluator, I have been faced with doing assessments for people that were arrested in Coloardo in December, 2012 for possession of small quantities of marijuana, In 2013, this is legal. I am anxious to see how the courts will rule.

Our Evaluations/ Assessments include:

  • Family History
  • Employment History
  • Education History
  • Alcohol and other Drug Abuse History
  • Administration and scoring of the SASSI
  • Written Report
  • Total Time= approx. 1.5 hours
  • We use the Addictioin Severity Index (ASI), the SASSI-3, the MAST, TADD and other as needed.

Why Should You Have an Alcohol and Drug Evaluation From Colorado Drug Rehab's Alcohol and Drug Assessment Team?

One needs to be careful when choosing a person or company to perform a alcohol evaluation for a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) or an alcohol and drug assessment and evaluation for Children's Protective Services or other court mandated alcohol and drug evaluations. Why? Many of those that are doing evaluations are not licensed or certified counselors. Certification shows that the person has state legal responsibility to be ethical, plus have the knowledge and skills to perform the alcohol evaluation correctly with the client being protected by a high level of professional ethics. We are not licensed in Colorado, but are certified by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium. We are licensed in Oklahoma, which is one of the most strigent states for licensing qualifications. We also are certified by Oklahoma to do evaluations for the Department of Public Safety, which is essential to get your driver's license back in Oklahoma.

There are also individuals that are getting paid by treatment centers for referrals to treatment. Some of these same people may find that it is more beneficial to them financially to get a referral from a treatment center than to give you an accurate alcohol evaluation. Be suspicious if the cost of doing the alcohol and drug evaluation is less than $100 and if the evaluation isn't based on a nationally recognized risk assessment instrument, like the SASSI-3.

Buyer beware! The last thing that you need is an alcohol evaluation that paints an untrue picture of your alcohol use and the potential for future illegal activities related to alcohol abuse or drug abuse.

A good and thorough evaluation should take into account everything that one has done since their legal offense to handle the drinking or drug problem. Most people learn from their mistakes and don't need any more attention to their problem other than being aware of those subtleties that could trip them up. If they have confronted their problem and no longer are at risk for having further problems, then the evaluation should state the same and the person should feel that the evaluation report is a vindication of their mistakes and not a mysterious and vague report that keeps a person under the auspices of courts, probation or others instead of being free to exercise one's control over their lives. Certainly lessons have to be learned and one cannot take a DUI lightly, but it doesn't mean that you have to do more than is necessary to handle your specific problem, which means to never drive after drinking and doesn't mean that you need long-term residential treatment because you have an addictive disease. Just be aware and be careful.

There are many injustices in life, but getting a thorough and honest assessment/evaluation shouldn't be one of them. Some Evaluators are using this process to connect you to residential or further outpatient treatment. We have had clients that report to us that they did an assessment by an unlicensed evaluator who was reasonably priced, but the report was sent to their probation with a recommendation for attending ten more hours of addiction classes from the evaluator's company.

Colorado Drug Rehab has over 35 years of ethical practice in helping individuals regain control of and power over their lives. Our purpose is to help you communicate the strengths in your life, not to emphasize your weakness and require you to spend more money and time because of your past error. You can trust Colorado Drug Rehab to do whatever we can to get you past your legal entanglement. Over 90% of our evaluations have determined that no other alcohol or drug rehab or education services are needed. Our evaluator's education, degrees, certifications and licensing make our evaluation beyond dispute and we have never had any of our assessment/evaluations questioned.

Our professional staff have a history of testifying in court with remarkable successes. We will defend your abilities as well.

What About Child Visitation and Custody Battles?

We have helped many parents come to a resolution over their custody battles for

their children. It is typical that if one parent has any history of substance abuse,

like a DUI or DWI or possession of marijuana, that he/she will have to have an

alcohol and drug assessment to show that they no longer are hampered by any

alcohol or drug dependency issues. They might have confronted their problem

and are actively involved in a recovery program or maybe they never had an

addiction, but were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, these

assessment are, naturally, extremely important to the parent and you don't want a

rookie doing your assessment. Our assessor has years of experience and, more

than that, his resume is stronger than anyone we have found goind evaluations.

Call and ask for Mac and he will explain whey he is you best choice.
